Job #19-428 STEM/Reading Buds Community Worker - Federal Work Study

Reports to: South Ward/LISD Coordinator
Schedule: Varies Monday- Friday 8:00-3:00 pm, 5-8 hours per week
Position Description:

Make a difference in the life of a child at South Ward Elementary School! The STEM/Reading Buddy will work with students on reading and memorizing math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); reading, writing, comparing, and ordering numbers; help students identify vocabulary words pertaining to math and their meaning; help with problem solving strategies; and any other math objectives. The Reading Buddy tutoring program assists students with all aspects of reading. The Reading Buddy listens to students read aloud and helps them with pronunciation, sentence structure, and grammar. Additional tasks may include reading to students and assisting teachers with other reading/book-related tasks, as requested. Additional tasks may include assisting students in the science lab.

Qualifications:

Must qualify for Federal Work Study to be eligible and have reliable transportation to South Ward Elementary School.

Must have a love for children and be committed to being faithful in attendance every week.
